  • The Arran Port Cask

    01- Nose: Rich smells of vanilla and hazeluts with hints of orange peel which seems to be a them with the family

    02- Palate: The soft fruity notes of apples and raisins which comes from its port cask background with a mild cinnammon flavour

    03- Finale: Lengthy but sweet and warming

    General impression all in all even though im not the biggest fan of port, the port cask with the Arran helps accentuate its already sweetish background

  • The Arran Malt Sherry

    01- Nose: Strong aromas of fresh sherry but also a light citrusy smell like lemon peel and slight floral notes

    02- Palate: tastes of figs and raisins along with notes of milk chocolate

    03- Finale: medium to long with notes of drying sherry and oak

    General impression out of them all this would be the Arran that i would reccomend to someone whos new to the world of single malts with its easy but flavourful palate

  • Redbreast 12 ans Irish Whisky

    01- Nose: Riche, fruits confits.

    02- Palate: Il est citronné, huileux, belle texture, on pourrait le garder longtemps en bouche, il est agréable.

    03- Finale: Longue, tout en chaleur, agréablement épicée, crémeuse.

    General impression Le redbreast 12 ans est pour ma part une très belle découverte, je recommande. Il est un single pot still qui est unique à l’irlande. Il est maturé en fût de chêne pour une duré de 12 ans. C’est un whisky complet, à saveurs complexe avec une belle texture crémeuse.

    General impression Whisky matured between 9 to 12 years – characterized as spicy and fruity

    01- Nose: Honey sweetness

    02- Palate: wood spice more present in the 15 than the 12, honey sweet as well

    03- Finale: Long finish and spice

    General impression unlike the 12 year, it is bottled at a higher proof – ABV 46.0 – Oloroso sherry and bourbon barrels – characterized as fruity and sweet and spicy

    01- Nose: Orange, cacao, doux, fruité

    02- Palate: huileux, chocolat, miel, fruits rouge

    03- Finale: sucrée, sherry, un peu longue

    General impression Très bon whisky, facile a boire, idéal en pairing avec du chocolat noir. Pour ceux qui aime les whisky qui sont ”frais” en bouche, c’est l’idéal. Même si personnellement je trouve que les whisky Irlandais ont tous une ressemblance a l’odeur, celui-la se distingue selon moi avec un bon équilibre de saveur.

    Lucas Choi Zimbel

    Lucas Choi Zimbel is one of the hardest working musicians in Montreal’s English language folk scene. With monthly residencies in the city’s most respected cultural spaces and bars, he has been putting up an impressive number of shows since 2014. For his solo act, he mostly finger-picks his way through colourful chords on the acoustic guitar. He also plays bluegrass, gypsy jazz and fiddle tunes from all over the world. In addition to the guitar, he plays accordion and clarinet. His lyrics reflect the changing times.
