Malheureusement, elle fut bannie au d\u00e9but du 20e si\u00e8cle parce que la thuyaune, une mol\u00e9cule pr\u00e9sente dans la plante, \u00e9tait consid\u00e9r\u00e9e dangereuse pour la sant\u00e9. On racontait qu\u2019elle pouvait causer des hallucinations, des crises d\u2019\u00e9pilepsie et m\u00eame de faire rencontrer la F\u00e9e verte&#8230; Son bannissement a grandement \u00e9t\u00e9 aid\u00e9 par les lobbys des producteurs de vin qui voyait sa popularit\u00e9 d\u2019un mauvais \u0153il. Donc avec le d\u00e9but de la 1re Guerre mondiale, le gouvernement d\u00e9cida d\u2019interdire l\u2019absinthe pour \u00e9viter que le peuple ne \u2018\u2019d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e8re\u2019\u2019. On voit un regain de vivacit\u00e9 de l\u2019absinthe dans les derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies, certaines vont m\u00eame \u00eatre produites au Qu\u00e9bec comme l\u2019Absinthe Fleur Bleu qu\u2019on peut retrouver au Bootlegger. La fa\u00e7on traditionnelle de boire de l\u2019absinthe requiert un verre \u00e0 absinthe. Une sorte de verre o\u00f9 il est possible de mesurer la quantit\u00e9 requise d\u2019alcool avant de placer une pelle \u00e0 absinthe qui est en fait une cuill\u00e8re utilis\u00e9e traditionnellement sur laquelle on place un cube de sucre et o\u00f9 l\u2019on fait doucement tomber quelques go\u00fbtes d\u2019eau fraiche pour diluer le sucre dans le spiritueux. L\u2019absinthe a repris du poil de la b\u00eate en partie gr\u00e2ce aux bars \u00e0 cocktails qui ont fait renaitre quelques grands classiques ayant presque disparu depuis la baisse de popularit\u00e9 du spiritueux. On pense entre autres au Sazerac et au Corpse Reviver No. 2 . Ma fa\u00e7on pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e d\u2019appr\u00e9cier l\u2019absinthe est d\u2019en rajouter un \u2018\u2019dash\u2019\u2019 non seulement dans les cocktails classiques \u00e0 l\u2019absinthe ou dans un cocktail qui pourrait en b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier comme l\u2019ajout d\u2019\u00e9pices en cuisine.
